I am a clinical psychologist with more than 30 years of experience as a psychotherapist. I believe that psychotherapy involves the encounter of souls in what can become a profoundly creative and transformative experience. Psychotherapy provides a “safe container” in which one can explore her or his feelings and challenges without fear of judgment or rejection. There is no blueprint for psychotherapy: I respond to each client’s individual needs, and together we navigate the journey leading to the client’s own inner wisdom and healing. Psychotherapy can empower you, so that you become more present in each moment and more aware of your inner strengths, enabling you to fully embrace and enjoy your life. Psychotherapy can also help you to negotiate the obstacles in the path towards your dreams and goals, exploring issues of deeper meaning so that you achieve greater understanding and fulfillment.
I work with individuals, couples, and groups. In addition, I provide supervision and consultation. Clients who progress in individual therapy often “graduate” to group therapy, which can enrich the therapy experience by providing a safe place to practice what has been learned in individual therapy. I am currently leading a group with Dr. Gus Kaufman which combines process and psychomotor (www.pbsp.com ). I also lead a Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)(www.behavioraltech.com) group with Dr. Melanie Bliss.
I have earned a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Georgia State University (1990), as well as Masters Degrees in Counseling (1976) and Psychology (1981). I am licensed in the State of Georgia.
I am a member of the Georgia Psychological Association (former Board Member) and the American Academy of Psychotherapists (former Chair, Southern Region).
